Clearly explained.

Selected Ergoline sunbeds at Tan King include red Radiance light, blue Activating Light, or both alongside UV tanning.

Know what you are choosing

Two named light features.

Equipment names can sound similar, so this guide focuses on what is fitted to each bed and where you can find it.

01 · RED

Radiance light

Red Radiance light complements the UV lamps in selected hybrid and Lightvision sunbeds. Red-light photobiomodulation has been studied for skin appearance, texture and collagen density, although results depend on wavelength, dose and repeated use.

02 · BLUE

Activating Light

Ergoline’s blue Activating Light is designed as a tanning-focused feature in selected Fusion Hybrid and Bluevision beds. It works alongside the tanning lamps; it is not a separate blue-light skin treatment.

Light and your skin

Different colours.
Different depths.

Visible light is absorbed and scattered as it passes through skin. Shorter-wavelength blue light is concentrated closer to the surface, while longer-wavelength red light can reach further into the skin.

Red: skin-focused

Research on red-light photobiomodulation—not UV tanning—has reported improvements in measures such as skin roughness and collagen density. The exact result depends on the light source and treatment schedule, so these findings should not be read as a guaranteed result from one tanning session.

Blue: tanning-focused

In these Ergoline beds, blue Activating Light is presented as part of the tanning technology. We describe it for that purpose only—not as acne treatment, antibacterial therapy or a medical skin treatment.

What about the body?

The benefits we can responsibly describe here are skin- and tanning-focused. We do not claim that the integrated red or blue lights treat pain, improve sleep, boost immunity or provide other whole-body medical benefits.

Illustrative, not to scale. Penetration varies with wavelength, intensity, skin and equipment. The red and blue features shown on this page operate alongside UV tanning lamps.

Evidence & further reading

What the research says.

A controlled clinical trial of 136 volunteers reported improvements in skin complexion, skin feeling, roughness and collagen density after repeated red or near-infrared light treatments. It studied dedicated photobiomodulation protocols, not Tan King’s sunbeds, so it provides useful context rather than a promise of the same outcome.

Our descriptions of Radiance and Activating Light refer to features built into selected Ergoline UV sunbeds. They are not medical advice or claims that the equipment diagnoses, treats or prevents any condition.

Before your session

Red & blue light FAQs.

Can I book a red- or blue-light-only session?

No. At Tan King these light features are integrated into selected UV sunbeds and are not offered separately.

Are these non-UV treatments?

No. Every bed listed on this page uses UV for tanning. The red or blue light is an additional built-in feature of that equipment.

Will one session improve my skin?

We do not promise a skincare result from a single session. Published red-light studies generally use specific wavelengths, doses and a course of repeated treatments; integrated sunbed features are not necessarily equivalent to those study protocols.

Which option should I choose?

Compare the equipment above or ask our trained team. They will explain the available beds and discuss an appropriate UV session length based on your skin type and tanning experience.

Do the usual sunbed rules still apply?

Yes. UV sunbeds are strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Follow the same preparation, timing and aftercare guidance as any other UV session.
